About me & ThomyStudio

Hello, I’m Thomas.
I make things.

ThomyStudio is my independent, one-person design practice in Leiden, the Netherlands. Originally from France, I fell in love with Leiden and have lived here for more than ten years. I’m interested in miniature architecture, modularity, materials and the details that make physical objects thoughtful, useful and a pleasure to use.

I enjoy moving between design thinking and making: finding a simple structure, understanding how things fit together, and giving an idea the character that makes it feel personal.

A design philosophy

“I believe happiness lies in the simple moments of everyday life. Through my designs, I hope to make these moments a little warmer, more playful, more functional and more beautiful.”

A gentle reminder to slow down, enjoy the little things and make room for the moments that matter. I explore miniature architecture, modular objects and thoughtful physical design, bringing simplicity, considered details and the pleasure of making together.

Design beyond
miniatures.

Beyond my own designs, I have over 10 years of experience in industrial design and physical product development. My professional background combines mechanical design, prototyping, design for manufacturing and coordination of multidisciplinary product development.

  • Industrial design and physical product development
  • Mechanical design, CAD and technical development
  • Enclosures for electronics-integrated and IoT products
  • Prototyping, design for manufacturing and supplier coordination
  • Manufacturing preparation and technical problem-solving
  • Coordination of development involving mechanical, electronic and firmware engineering

My contribution is individual design and engineering work, including coordination across disciplines where a product needs it.
